And So I Go
Feb. 23rd, 2014 10:00 pmI just got back from work. I'd left something there, so in the middle of my packing, i had to leave the closing ceremonies to tape and drive over to the office to get it. And I could unplug my coworker's computer at the same time, so it's just as well. I spent Saturday morning at the library, volunteering. Then I came home, watched the end of the bronze medal game, then went to work and stayed there until almost 7pm. I managed to get most everything on my To Do list done, though, so it was worth it.
UGH. The super shuttle is picking me up at 5am tomorrow morning (unless they're early, in which case I will cut them; I don't like early).
I always freak out when I pack, but this time I'm freaking out about badge printing not entirely working the way it's supposed to yet. I think I've figured it out, but I'm hoping the solution will work when in practice on Tuesday.
Okay, back to packing. I know my suitcase is overweight. It was last year and this year I'm taking an extra shirt and extra suit. But I'm taking my backpack, so I'll stuff things in there, if I need to. I hate this part--the part right before a trip. I don't like the anxiety that comes with the unknown, with knowing I'll have to sleep in a strange bed tonight, with not knowing what I'll be eating for the next week (if anything). I'll be fine once I step out the door tomorrow morning. Until then... I freak out. Luckily, I've been to Seattle before, so I know what to expect and I can picture what things look like. Here's hoping everything will go smoothly at the conference.
See you in a week!
Seattle, get ready for a crazy literary conference! Here we come, ready or not!!!
(translation: not ready yet!)
