In which I learn two things
May. 2nd, 2014 08:34 pmThing the first: When you put a tag on your outside water tap shutoff valve that reads "turn this off before the first freeze so the pipes won't explode in the wall" you should also put a tag attached to that tag that reads "when you turn this back on, make sure to close the water tap outside first!" I turned the water back on and immediately heard water rushing through the pipe. I thought that was pretty odd but decided it was just because I was running the wsher. About two minutes later I headed outside to sweep my deck and saw the water gushing out of the tap, flooding my deck. Oops! Luckily, I don't pay for water and I had been meaning to wash the deck after sweeping anyway. But, yeah, lesson learned the hard way! Order of operations is important.
Thing the second: sometimes Easter falls on my birthday. It happened three times in my childhood, though I was too young to remember the first (there are slides of me trying to eat my first ice cream cone and crying because I was eating it upside-down and the ice cream was cold). Easter hasn't fallen on my birthday in years, so I thought I'd look it up to see when the next time will be. Turns out, I'll be in my 90s the next time it happens! ARGH! Three times when I was a kid and I may not live to see it happen again! How sad!
