Just checking in
May. 16th, 2014 03:34 pmThis is where I am right now...
I spent all weekend/week registering & releasing over 600 books on BookCrossing for the Gaithersburg Book Festival tomorrow. Should be a good time. Gotta load the car in a bit.
Okay, not the whole weekend. I got to go to a WRock concert on Saturday that was amazing. One of the best ever. I am BEYOND lucky that these talented musicians came from out of state to perform for us. WRock concerts are not easy to get any more, so I'm grateful I could go to one. The Blibbering Humdingers sang two of my favorite songs of theirs (I cried at one). TWG played some great Sherlock songs and a The Fault in Our Stars song (I cried at that one) but also his Blue Power Ranger song that is one of my favorites of his! Squee! That was great to hear live! And the District 13 Cowboys sang one of my favorites of theirs, the lulabye for Rue. Oh, and two completely kickass Star Trek songs... or, well, one started out as Star Trek and went to every other fandom imaginable (including breakfast cereals LOL).
I cleaned a bunch but that's backed off in the last week or so... see above time suck.
I saw an ortho about my leg. He said we can either try PT for a few months and see if that helps or we can do an MRI and find out what the problem is. So I'm getting an MRI.
I'm going to play laser tag with my HP meetup group tonight (Final Battle Laser Tag & Tri-Wizard-like Maze! Should be fun if I don't collapse or whatever).
My stomach had another attack on Monday night. The third one I've had since this whole thing started. It lasted... not sure how long, because I fell asleep at 1am after 5 hours of it, but definitely a long time. It's been hurting on and off all week since then.
On Tuesday we had HR come to work and do more Myers-Brigs training (this time on conflicts specifically). It was useful, but I'm still having trouble changing my ways to accommodate coworkers. And there's one coworker in particular I'm still having a problem with. The advice HR gave us this time and last time too was to think of just ONE thing you respect about the person--be it their degree or their choice of pen color or SOMETHING and keep that in your mind. I'm struggling to find one thing about this coworker. But I'll keep thinking. I'm sure I'll come up with something.
Also,
cowboyguy gave me the most adorable little stuffed Eeyore. He's got these tiny floppy arms and this cute face. Awww! http://www.amazon.com/Hallmark-Itty-Bitty-Eeyore-KID3231/dp/B00FO962UE
On Wednesday & Thursday I went to a boot camp for associations with meetings/conferences who want to use social media. I learned a few things and had a good time confirming a lot of beliefs and behaviors I've been trying to get working at work. So that was useful ego-boosting vindication.
I had a tough time getting there on Wednesday; I went to the wrong Springfield Hilton (who'd have thought there were TWO Springfield Hiltons?) and the staff at the wrong one was the slowest ever, so I missed the shuttle. And then, trying to get to the Metro, I ended up on the beltway, freaking out because I didn't have my GPS unit. Luckily, I found my way back and made it to the Metro and into DC and was only 5 minutes late. But it cost me $15 for the day I hadn't been planning on spending. Grrrr. I went to the correct Springfield Hilton on Thursday. A much better experience! I had to wake up at 5:30am both days-ICK! And on Weds I missed a major car accident by about 45 seconds (heard the crash as I was driving and drove by just a minute later. It was NOT good. I feel very lucky to be okay and unharmed).
I'm currently addicted to this game: http://zone.msn.com/en/snackjack/default.htm even though the concept horrified me a bit at first. The cherry pie round is possibly my favorite, though I do like the Smores-on-a-stick round as well. LOL
I went to the doctor today. Then I went to the lab and got more blood drawn. I've got two new specialists to follow-up with. We'll see what they have to say.
I've been watching movies:
Frozen- saw it just in time--two days later I was at the Wrock concert and there was a parody. FINALLY I'll be able to understand and not avoid Frozen references. I adored this movie. Didn't think I would, as I wasn't a fan of the main song when I heard it the first few times, but in the context of the movie, I fell in love. I was so surprised! I watched it two more times over the next few days before giving it to my mother to watch. Somebody's gotta write me Kristoff sneezefic like now. Or links to it; that would work too.
Iron Man 3- Finally I can understand about Tony's panic attacks. Man, I loved that. Also, loved the movie. Watched it once, waited a day, then watched it again. It's possibly my favorite of the three! Wait, what? Yes, it's definitely my favorite of the three.
Room 237- laughed my way through it; can't believe my coworker thought I should watch it. SO TERRIBLE
Thor 2-- didn't love it, but it was okay and had pretty men
Gayby- eh, cute and nice. Not bad. Could have been awful, but it was just cute
The Happy Poet- made me kind of sad for two hours while watching it, despite its ending and its title
So, I haven't had time to write lately. Which stucks. Or craft, for that matter. But I'm hoping Sunday I'll be able to play catch up and relax a bit.

Date: 2014-05-17 01:45 pm (UTC)I'm hoping to have you're belated birthday fic posted this weekend. It didn't turn out exactly as I wanted but there are puppies and there is a closet so at least it follows the theme.
My goal this weekend is to post your fic and a sick Lestrade one I started ages ago and have some quality knitting time. Work has been crazy and the knitting is totally my therapy.
Well that and getting lost in sick fics lately.
