Guess who just finished her NaNoNovel for the first time EVER?! This gal!

It took me 72,439 words (or 71,788 the way the NaNo website validates) but after 9 years, I finally wrote a complete story from start to finish in just one month. It came out to 15 chapters and I still don't have a title. I also need to do some editing (but not too much, because I friggin hate editing and this is a sneezefic, not an actual marketable novel). But I inserted a chapter in the middle so there are some day counts that are off. And I know I switch seasons at least 3 times (winter, fall, then winter again). Also, I started this one thread early on and then dropped it because it was getting too complicated. So I'm definitely going to have to do editing. And then I'll have to figure out how best to post it... a chapter a day for two weeks? Two chapters a day for a week? I'm undecided.
But the point is, I'm FINISHED! And I did what I never thought I'd be able to do--actually finish a "novel" in a month. My "novels" always seem to take way more than 50,000 words to write, and this was obviously no exception. I spent entire weekends writing 7,000-9,000 words a day. I skipped social engagements to attend write-ins. I even spent an entire comp day off work doing nothing but writing. But it was worth it! I'm so thrilled and happy with the way the story turned out. I hope you'll like it too, once I get it edited.
Now off to have dinner (yes, it's 10 PM, shut up) and think of a good title. Man, I suck at titles...

Date: 2014-11-27 05:08 am (UTC)My fic is set a month or two after the Avengers movie, so that's really all you need in order to understand the fic. The Agents of SHIELD show is mentioned and we do see characters/objects (Coulson's car) from that and hints to a thing or two in it, but absolutely nothing that would spoil you for the show past the first episode. The show takes place after the Avengers and the fic goes a little bit off canon to make things work at times anyway. My fic is mostly Clint and Coulson :-)

Date: 2014-11-27 05:18 am (UTC)I had hoped to write you a Thanksgiving Fic because I remember it is not your kind of holiday but it never happened. Sorry. My Sherlock fixation has shifted to the Musketeers(you really should watch). I have no one to share fics with. I've filled a couple of prompts on A Musketeerskink community but the rest of the world does not give the amazing and helpful feedback you do.
By the way(I am a nudge) did you ever end up reading my super late birthday fic? I posted it very late at the end of May.

Date: 2014-11-27 05:28 am (UTC)Have I not left you feedback for the bday fic? I'm ashamed of myself! I read it and loved it. I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow! I'm so sorry about that!
And thanks for thinking of me; it's so sweet you remembered (do I complain that much about Thanksgiving? LOL!). No worries that it hasn't happened. I do still have all the Musketeers eps DVRed... one day! :-) I'm stuck on this crazy marathon of TableTop lately, to the point where I stopped writing and just watched episodes on YouTube and then got mad at myself for not writing. LOL

Date: 2014-11-27 11:30 am (UTC)As long as you did read it I'm happy sorry to be so needy.
I do think you would like the Musketeers, there's so much fic potential too. I love their bond. My daughter and I hsve had interesting conversations about fanfiction and shipping recently. She explained OT3 to me and BROT4 which is how I like my Musketeers. There are some very nice h/c fics out there, lots of slash too.
You don't complain that much, I just remember its not you day. Thinking of you!
