Fanfic Year in Review 2014
Jan. 13th, 2015 09:30 pmSorry it took SO LONG to post this. Seems I'm starting off the year behind... which seems somewhat fitting.
Past years: Year 2008, Year 2009, Year 2010, Year 2011, Year 2012, Year 2013
There's a key in the expredsheet link below saying where each fic was posted, if there's a fic there you want to read and haven't yet.

I'm not going to do the write-up like usual this year, because I don't have the time or energy to go through and reread everything in order to choose my best, favorite, worst, least appreciated, etc. But I am going to write a short summary. It was a good year of fic-writing. I'm happy to see such an even distribution of ratings; this was the first year I kept track of that and the sexual content within my fics. Obviously, May was again my heaviest month for fics, because of the Harry Potter fest I write a story a day for. Without the snow drabbles, I only managed to write ONE fic just for me. Which kind of sucks. But I did fill one or two of my own prompts, so I guess that sort of counts as well. I'm happy with a lot of the fics I wrote and for hosting two comment fic memes this year as well as participating in others. I'm super proud of November; though I didn't get any fics posted that month, I did a great deal of writing.

In 2015, my writing goals are:
- I want to finish my 12 Fics in 12 Days project, which I'm sorry is taking so long.
- I want to have at least one thing to workshop every month at Writers' Roundtable, even if it's something old just to have something to share
- I want to edit and post my NaNo fic.
- I want to edit and write a lot more Strokes stories. I've been thinking about those boys a lot lately and I wish I had more time to write them... so I want to make time for them and self publish a small volume of stories of theirs for my own sake.
- I definitely want to do another comment fic meme in April! I hope everyone will join me in it!
- I want to keep track in a spreadsheet of all the fanfics I read this year.
- Speaking of reading fanfic, I want to be MUCH better about leaving feedback after reading, even if it has to be super quick.
- I want to get into some new fandoms and write for them.
- And... this is the big one... I want to pick up at least five unfinished fics, finish, and post them. I have hundreds of fics just sitting about, needing attention. I'd love to share them, but I have to finish them in order for that to happen. For this, finishing chapters of chapterfics counts as well ("Too Many Cooks", I'm looking at you).

Date: 2015-01-14 07:33 am (UTC)Your 2015 goals reminded me of something. I tried to send you a PM about it late last year, but I don't know if you received it. Long story short, I've gotten weirdly invested in seeing your Sneezefic in 132 Moods project completed and was wondering if you wanted any help in trying to get people to participate. If you're not interested, I totally understand, but you've done so much awesome stuff for the Sneeze Fetish community that I just wanted to give back in some way.
Happy New Year!

Date: 2015-01-14 07:45 pm (UTC)I so TOTALLY owe you a quality message about that. Your wanting to see that project to completion rocks my world, and I am a terrible person for continuing to forget to message you about it! I also owe you fic feedback galore!

Date: 2015-01-14 07:31 pm (UTC)Out of curiosity, and I've probably asked you this before, where do you post your fic? I seem to recall you don't do FFN.

Date: 2015-01-14 07:43 pm (UTC)There's a column on the spreadsheet in that post's link that shows where each fic was posted. Most of my stuff more appropriate for this journal is on this journal and eventually my website. Most of my other stuff, including other kinks or non-kink fics, is on AO3.
I REALLY want to post my NaNoNovel on AO3, but there's just way too much self-indulgent sneezing to put it there in good conscience. LOL I used to archive a lot on the Wonderful World of Make Believe, but I haven't posted my newer stuff there since getting my AO3 account. I like AO3 a lot :-) And it's neat to get comments on there for fics I wrote ten/twenty years ago still.

Date: 2015-01-15 03:28 am (UTC)I'm also looking forward to your NaNoWriMo story too, I've watched the Avengers to be prepared.
Also yay comment fic meme!
Also at the risk of being annoying you know I have a recurring suggestion for a new fandom those lovely Musketeers. Someone just filled my prompt with an amazing non spoilery sickfic that is delicious on the musketeerskink meme that you would love.
