My weekend was awesome. It's so rare that I have a day where I just feel good the whole day. Warm, awake, and happy with no downer or sad/depressed moments or any health problems mixed in. And I ended up having two of them in a row. It's been an excellent weekend--one of the best I've ever had. I've just felt so... good, you know? It's really rare for me.

Saturday, May 2, was both the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts and Sam Winchester's birthday. I ended up wearing this t-shirt that [livejournal.com profile] lady_korana gave me for my birthday this year:

I headed to the library for my volunteer shift. Bookdrop was not too bad. And the first thing I saw when I headed out into the main part of the library to start work on the picklist were these handsome gentlemen:

I didn't even know that our library system had any of the Supernatural books in its collection. This is one of the 3 I own, so I didn't check it out. But it was nice to see it on Sam's birthday! Also, it was right next to Roxane Gay's book; I saw her a few weeks ago when I was in Minneapolis.

After volunteering, I finished up the library scavenger hunt I have been putting together. I stopped by the grocery store and bought some snacks. Then I went over to the comic book store for Free Comic Book Day. There were a few cosplayers posing for pictures with kids. I picked up the Doctor Who comic I really wanted and had thought I'd not arrive in time to get. I got some other nice ones as well (there was a 5 comic limit). By the time I was done, there was practically no line at all, so my timing sucked. But I poked around the store a little and couldn't find anything I had to have, even though there were some amazing sales (I probably would have bought Fraction's Iron Fist if it hadn't been in hardcover only).

I drove by my parents' place and picked up a few board games (Wizard of Oz board game from my childhood and Lord of the Rings Risk). I also remembered to grab my laundry basket I'd left there; my current one is falling apart. I stopped by the grocery store again for lunch. On the way home, I finished my current audio book, Dr. Sleep by Stephen King, the sequel to The Shining. It ended so well and I had such a good time with that book. So I started listening to That's a Pegasus again, an album I hope I never get tired of. The last track on the album, Rogue, is my theme song for this year.

I ate lunch (macaroni & soy cheese) and played some computer games while watching an episode of Charmed. I finished earlier than expected and bought a ticket to The Avengers: Age of Ultron through Fandango; it came with a free Marvel comic download, so Yay! I got to the movie theater a lot later than I normally would have for a movie, but it was just me and I still got a decent seat.

I liked the movie a lot, except for a few parts that are going to do bad things to my favorite ship. Still, a good movie and lots of nice hurt/comfort moments for pretty much all the team members. I was happy to see that! And I am glad to have seen it on opening weekend.

I got home and spent some time writing some fun fic, including a Harry Potter fic (seemed appropriate to write HP on the Battle of Hogwarts Day) and a SUPER indulgent sneezekink ficlet that seems to have killed many of us, so yay for that. I watched a movie called "Men, Women and Children" which was pretty okay, but a lot slower than I was in the mood for. Still, I can mail it in on Monday and, I hope, get Selma back in return because that's one of the two best picture movies I still haven't seen. I also checked my bank account, a little worried that my mortgage payment may have made my bank account dip into my overdraft protection. But when I looked at my account both my overtime pay from the Minneapolis conference AND my federal tax return had been deposited in my account. I was able to pay off my credit card AND put almost all of both my state and federal tax returns straight into savings. I feel so much better about my finances now. It's a relief to haveg a small emergency fund again. Plus, nice that my mortgage payment didn't bounce.

I went to bed and fell asleep watching "The Fall" about gay mormans. I only got about 15 minutes into it before falling asleep. I woke up at 5-something thinking my alarm was going off and that it was 7 o'clock. I reset my alarm to go off in 2 hours. When it went off again I thought it was 9 o'clock and it was really 7 o'clock. Took me forever to realize I'd accidentally set the time ahead 2 hours instead of the alarm. 'Cause I'm a stupidhead. I took my morning meds and then went back to sleep until the real 9am. Then I stayed in bed until 9:30 reading such great feedback from y'all. How nice to wake up to!

I did some laundry and some chores. Then I finished watching "The Fall." It was pretty terrible quality-wise. I spent the morning writing some more (SPOILER: I started a Stargate SG-1 fic) and playing more computer games. Then i headed off to the meetup I was organizing, by way of the dollar store where I picked up an item for a swap partner.

My Harry Potter group was having our annual game day. This time around, we had Harry Potter games vs. All other fandom games. I got to play Firefly Clue (I would have won if I'd rolled more than a 5 on my last roll!). I played my new Harry Potter trivial pursuit game and everyone did SO WELL on it but I missed question #5 of 12 so I was out. Drat! Then I played Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit, and, after just one round, [livejournal.com profile] cowboyguy showed up and joined in! Yay! I ended up winning the game, but it was super close. Sadly, a ring wraith tackled Aragorn just as he and I were celebrating. Then we started playing a Harry Potter trivia game and didn't get a chance to finish it before we had to clean up. Things I learned today: 1- apparently 10 prisoners escaped during the Azkaban breakout (I guessed 5; I was so wrong). 2-Jayne's bunk is apparently large enough for the whole crew to fit in at one time (minus Simon, River, and Book). 3- the people of Trivial Pursuit think that Gimli has a horse.

I got home and it was nice and warm outside. So I wiped all the pollen off my swing and grabbed my laptop. I sat outside and wrote a while. I managed to write three more pages to finish off a story I started weeks ago. Also, there was so much nice feedback waiting for me when I checked my email! What a great thing to see. Thank you!
I wrote until it started getting a little chilly. I might have dozed off a little a few times, because I woke up while I was still swinging back and forth. It was apparently too comforting. LOL

For dinner, I made myself my favorite stir fry meal. I found some new veggie strips (the ones I love seem to have been discontinued over the past year while I was off normal food, but this new stuff is almost identical) and I splurged at the store and bought some cashews--my favorite nuts.

It's SO yummy, and pretty much the only thing I can "cook." Afterward, I ate some of my leftover birthday pie. And I watched some more Charmed and wrote some more.

It feels like the perfect weekend! I'm going to go clear a couple more hours off my DVD and write some more before bed.
