Things still suck for me. I'm sleeping about 4 hours a night and spending every waking moment trying to put out social media fires that I can't actually put out for long. I'm sick to death of internet bullying and mob mentality and people who write before they think. And I'm sick of people making the situation worse while trying to help. I'm mostly just sick of being yelled at constantly all day for things I can't do anything about.
I've appreciated the links y'all have sent me. I honestly tried to read a few things and just couldn't get my mind into them and kept stopping to check Twitter again. I'm just no good right now.
The only bright spot in my life has been earreading The Bane Chronicles. I love Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices series. I like her Mortal Instruments series. But I ABSOLUTELY ADORE Magnus Bane. And a whole set of stories about him, co-written by other talented writers (so they're actually really good) is just the best. The best. The humor and style is so much fun and getting to explore more of his past is a real treat (also there's this BRILLIANT moment with Jem and Will and Tessa that I'll never not love). But to make it even better? The stories are narrated by different people (some I liked better than others, and it's weird hearing different accents and voices for the same characters, but once you get over that, it's fine). And a few of my favorite actors narrate a few of them, including Andrew Scott and Gareth David-Lloyd.
Yeah. Listening to "Ianto Jones" tell me about sexy glittery warlock Magnus getting it on with adorable, shy, shadowhunter Alexander Lightwood? THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, those descriptions and Gareth's voice/accent... perfect combination. I melted. And squeed. Sometimes simultaneously.
And so I finally went and bought the book yesterday. I had just enough in my account to buy it and pre-order SPN season 10. So that's exactly what I did.
Ever read a book and, while reading it, you want to start over again from the beginning because it's SO GOOD and you want to experience it all over again even though you're not even finished yet? That's how it was with this book. Loved it. I mean, it's Magnus so that means cats with adorably punny names, glitter, and disregard for anything that isn't fabulous. It also means love and passion and heartache and adventure and magic and did I mention glitter? heehee

Date: 2015-08-28 12:53 am (UTC)I also really liked Saving Raphael Santiago. And I loved the Last Stand because it was fascinating to see Magnus' reaction to Valentine's Circle and the incredibly different feel of downworlder life then. But Will and Tessa and Jem... and Jem wanting to play his instrument before going... awwwwwwwww.
But the last two stories... so much Malec. *G*
I'm so glad you love it. I'd have to seriously question ever recommending another book to you otherwise. (Which, considering how many books I throw at you, you would possibly be happy about? LOL)
Thank you for letting me fangirl with you a little. I definitely needed that. You've got good timing :-)
