It's Now the Future!

Watch out for those flying cars today, because we’re suddenly living the future!

That is, this is the exact day Marty and Doc go to in the future during the second Back to the Future movie. According to the movie, we should have all sorts of goodies like Mr. Fusion, food pellets, self-drying clothes, and hoverboards.

Hello tarotgal! I was thinking of you and came back to haunt your journal :) It's been a long time and I'm glad to see you're still the amazing fangirl you've always been! I'm sad to read about your health difficulties and the sadness of losing some of your beloved family animals though. I don't have much to say, only that I'm thinking fondly of you!

We (I) really shouldn't leave so long before catching up!! :)

I'm good; I think I've started to grow up despite myself! ;) which, given I'm in my thirties now... But two weekends ago I *gardened* for literally the first time ever and was actually pleasant and calming and I have the most amazing roses (which came with the house, none of my doing!) and I dip in and out of being in fandom at all (and am sad that fans has moved away from LJ, I cannot for the life of me understand tumblr) but am currently crazily in love with The Man From UNCLE movie, which, omg, is the prettiest and most glorious movie ever, have you seen it?!

But tell me how your day was, and what you're in love with right this moment and... I don't know, anything at all! *HUGS!* :D

The beautiful roses that came with my house were killed off by the super harsh winter we had this January-March. I'm kind of sad about that. Despite being very Hufflepuffy, I'm terrible with plants. The only thing I've managed to keep alive properly is my aloe plant, which comes in useful as I'm clumsy and burn myself occassionally. Glad to hear that you enjoyed gardening! That does feel very adult in my mind too :-)

At Wincon this past weekend, lots of people were talking about the need to get back onto LJ for fandom squeeing, because there really isn't a fantastic place for that otherwise. I can't figure out tumblr either. How do you have a back-and-forth discussion there? Why is it so hard to find the dang reblog button? How do you know what tags people are using? (Also hard to find hurt/comfort as I think / characters aren't allowed in tags)

I haven't seen the new Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie yet; I rarely see things in the theaters because it's expensive. But I liked the show and am glad to hear that the movie is good! People were talking about the need for good Napoleon/Illya/Gaby fic last weekend too.

I guess I'm fannishly into Supernatural more than anything else at the moment. But Harry Potter still plays a major role in my life as I'm co-organizer of my local meetup group. I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now as well. I don't really leave behind old fandoms, just acquire new ones, so I'm just as in love with everything as before, now there's just more. I'm dying to write a Sense 8 fic, but no actual bunnies have sprung to mind yet. I'm actually really excited about a few original fiction projects I want to work on next. I just started a new 101 Things in 1001 Days list on October 1, and I'm feeling good about my chances; there are a ton of things on the list I am really excited about.

Did you do anything special for Future Day? My sister and I went to the theater for the Back to the Future marathon and got to see all three movies on an IMAX screen.
