Fic progress...
Sep. 13th, 2004 05:49 amGrr... didn't get nearly enough done today. I went into icon-making mode. LOL
Today's fic exploits include:
Today's fic exploits include:
- Edited my Remus/Sirius fic for a fest. I'm going to give it a final edit tomorrow and then send it in. Yay. Glad it's almost over.
- Edited my Aragorn sneezefic. I'm fiddling with the ending now. It's not as funny as I'd have liked, but it's different. And that's good. I'll probably just put it on journal, though. I was thinking of posting it onlist but, eh, it's really not that good. I'd hate to follow nermal's lovely Wes fic with it. LOL!
- Wrote a bit of my Pirates of Dark Water fic. The beginning bit. I started writing the story in the middle, so today I went back and filled in the beginning. Playing catch-up, I call it.

Date: 2004-09-13 07:56 pm (UTC)Anyhoo... it's dead awesome that someone else has actually *heard* of the show, let alone interested in reading a fic based in it! Yay-ness!!! *hughughug* Hope my attempt at a fic doesn't let you down. Whenever it gets finished. It's not going to be long, but it's 5 pages currently with no sneezing yet.
Yeah. Ren/Ioz. Go fig. Totally unexpected to me. It just happened. Guess it could be worse... like Konk/Niddler *shudder*

Date: 2004-09-13 08:26 pm (UTC)I never really had strong feelings about Ioz one way or another. On the one hand, he was kinda badass; on the other hand, he often did really stupid things in the name of greed that ended up getting them into trouble and I just wanted to smack him upside the head. Ren though...him I liked :)
I freely admit to really liking Tula, especially after she got those mystical powers that led to her probably becoming irritating to you. I was totally in my 'girl power' phase then, when all my most favorite fictional heroes were women: She-Ra, Xena, Deanna Troi, and my favorite female character, Jadzia Dax. I even went through a brief phase where I couldn't get enough of Sci-fi channel reruns of 'The Bionic Woman' *hides face in embarrassment*
Then it happened: I discovered the beautiful, sexy, angst-magnet that is Fox Mulder. That led to Ewan's Obi-Wan, then a few years later Daniel Jackson, and a few months later I first beheld Middle-earth...the rest is history. :) Currently, I'm playing catch-up on Farscape episodes. John Crichton=yummy!
So yeah, Tula never bothered me. I think it's cool that I'm not the only person either to have almost religiously watched this show. This makes me wonder if you watched any of the other obscure things I was briefly attracted to, such as 'Kidd Video'(with the sneezing fairy Glitter), 'Peter Pan and the Pirates' or 'Dinosaucers'. Wow, talk about a trip down memory lane...

Date: 2004-09-13 08:53 pm (UTC)LOL! Well, it is Tim Curry and he's kinky like that. But, yeah, ick! I promise you I'd never write that :-)

Ren was definitely my favorite, hands down. LOVED that lad. I think the lighthouse thing didn't hurt, either *G*
As for Ioz... yeah, that stupidly greedy thing is part of my fic. And Ren pretty much does smack him upside the head :-) But last Sunday's episode was the one with Ioz's little sister so I'm currently stuck in "Ioz as a tough but sweet protective big brother" mode. I think what I liked about Ioz was that he was a much different sort of character for his lust and greed but when it came down to it, he knew right from wrong and he was trustworthy and loyal and a good friend. I wouldn't call it moral ambiguity... he just had some not-so-healthy obsessions. I can understand that. But, yeah, I still feel like smacking him upside his head.

I honestly felt like they were trying too hard. Like they couldn't think of enough plotlines and roles for her as a tough chica and had to do something special to make her even tougher. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED her powers. If I had special powers, I'm sure that's what I'd get. But I think I just felt like they thought she wasn't good enough before. I liked her just fine before. But I must admit her powers did make for some good plots and saves.
I've never watched the Bionic Women, but from what I've seen in clips and all, it wasn't that bad.
I LOVED She-Ra. Of course I loved He-Man, too, but I never played He-Man. My friends and I always played She-Ra :-) And I really wish I'd watched more of Xena. I lost track of it about halfway through.
As for Troi... I liked her at first... though I'd make fun of her at times. But as the series progressed I really started loving her. I've watched the episode where she takes her test to become commander at least 5 times in the last week. I loved the Worf/Troi storyline, too. I think I liked Beverly more at times... but Troi was great. And Dax, well, she was utterly fantastic. *sigh*

I did watch Kidd Video all the time... but I've never even heard of the other two you mentioned! Sorry!! I watched a lot of obscure things, though, so I can totally relate. You've got good tastes in fandoms, though! :-)

Date: 2004-09-13 11:00 pm (UTC)Wow!! I'm amazed that two people here have not only heard of the show but actually liked/watched it!!! I'm amazed. And sooooo happy there will be people who might actually read and understand my fic when I finish it. Damn. You're too cool! *hugs*
