The Plan of Attack
Mar. 25th, 2008 12:09 amBwahaha! I love new fandoms *G*
The plan of attack:
1.Watch Doctor Who Series 1 (liked it WAY more than I thought I would)
2. Watch Doctor Who Series 2 (4 disks down, 2 to go!)
3. Re-watch Torchwood Series 1
4. Watch Doctor Who Series 3
5. Read Doctor Who Comics that I'm buying and saving in a pretty boarded & bagged pile until I meet Martha properly
6. Re-watch Torchwood Series 2 (in as much as I can- I've DVRed some of it to watch & re-watch but I'll buy the DVDs as soon as they're out)
7. Read whatever Doctor Who & Torchwood books I can get my hands on- which is a couple so far
8. Re-watch Queer as Folk UK because of Vince's Doctor Who fixation
(You know how Michael in the US version loves comics? Well, Vince loves Doctor Who. During the birthday party scene, instead of Brian buying 9. Astroman Comic #1 and having a guy dress up as Astroman, Stuart buys Vince K-9 *G*)
9. Pester the heck out of someone until my pretty Torchwood Magazine arrives. Might need to buy Issue 1 off eBay if I subscribed too late but I want Issue 2 now, damnit!
10. Well, I can't think of a ten but I'm anal and couldn't leave this list at 9 so, here I am.
Um... yep. I'm officially hopeless. And this isn't even counting the John Barrowman CDs, iTunes songs, and autobiography I've bought over the last few weeks (already listened to him read his autobiography in audiobook format, but I want my own copy to pick up and read whenever). Did I mention that not this past Sun but the one before when I went to the thrift shop I found an old Doctor Who book? Okay, I've told myself I don't NEED or really WANT to go back and watch all the series... in fact, that'd be impossible. But it's tempting nonetheless. I don't like to do anything half-assed. Which is why I wasn't content with taking Torchwood as it was and leaving it at that. Blame it on Captain Jack Harkness ;-) Oh, and time travel. Can't resist that, can I?

Date: 2008-04-01 08:37 am (UTC)Turns out from my friend Jill that all the previous eps of Doctor Who I've seen were all the sucky ones that she hates, so that's probably why I didn't like it before. *G* Oh, and I think I like the 9th Doctor better than the 10th so far...
Sooo...today I bought Torchwood Series 1 on DVD! I'm on episode 5 now, and I can say with certainty that Jack is smokin' hot, and I'm crushing on Ianto quite a bit. He's a cutie, and I love that he and Jack are canon!
Any fic recommendations?

Date: 2008-04-01 01:25 pm (UTC)Re: Doctor Who- I rather like number 10 more than number 9... that's mostly quirkiness and physical attraction kicking in. But that's not to say I didn't just rent The Seeker in order to see number 9 as a bad boy. Christopher was scary! I loved it. But there's something about David's doctor... oh yum, too. I love 'em both. But, yeah, I more than understand about the episodes. The ones I saw first I didn't like much either, as I said. But it definitely has a way of growing on you and when the really great episodes hit, there's no way to resist.
I'm desperate to see series 3 but it's on "Very long wait" on Blockbuster Online so it might be a few months. And series 4 starts Friday... so I'm going to have to DVR & save it until I can get caught up.
Fic recommendations. Well, on my hcrec livejournal I posted a few in a post a little while ago. And there's the one I wrote as a giftfic. But I'm always eager for more. And the one you rec'ed here... OMG what a brilliant way to start a morning! Gods, I love Ianto to pieces- especially when he's in a death-warmed-over state and needy like that. And Jack being so difficult and then sweet *sigh* I loved it. Thank you! If you come across any other lovely Torchwood fics... you know where to send the links! *hugs*

Date: 2008-04-01 08:51 pm (UTC)My liking Doctor 9 is twofold. One, I really like and prefer Rose as companion so far, and 9 has fantastic chemistry with her. I love the way they work and talk and act together. And two, the first time I can remember seeing Christopher Eccleston is in 'Shallow Grave' with Ewan, and any association with Ewan is naturally going to give someone an edge. *G* Plus, 10 seems more spastic and it's harder for me to understand what he's saying lots of times. I still like him though, don't get me wrong.
You're welcome for the fic link! I may just have to read it again too. :)
