tarotgal: (Remus/Sirius)
My internet keeps going in and out. VERY frustrating! Grrr!

I decided, after several days of constant hard work, that tonight's just going to be a writing night. I watched Highlander episode 'Timeless' earlier today, so maybe that's what inspired it. It's an ep about how true artists need mortality to be truly brilliant. And about how Methos hits on Alexa and finally gets her to take a trip around the world with him. Man. Lucky duck. Apart from the whole dying within a year thing. Makes for some GREAT tears and angst from the guy later though. One of the best scenes in the series (not a lot of hurt/comfort from immortals who heal instantly and can't die...)

Anyway... it's a writing night. But I PROMISE to get to betaing your fic first thing tomorrow, Hermione! I gave it a quick read through today, but I'm not exactly in the editing mindset. And I'm trying to work with a deadline here. So I promise, tomorrow afternoon you'll get it back. Not a problem. And sorry for the delay.

Oohhh just read a lovely pre-slash Remus/Sirius fic called 'Magic Words'. Wow. LOVELY characterization of Remus. And I actually LIKED Peter- and that's hard to get me to do! I'm trying to write a Peter!Slut story and it's NOT been going so well. LOL. It's supposed to be amusing, but it's just sad right now. LOL. Anyway, 'Magic Words'- characters are really nicely done- I was impressed. And to my utter astonishment, Sirius gets sick at the end of the story *G* And Remus gets all "Back to bed" Awwwwww! Totally sold me on it. Twas a nice surprise :-) Not to mention, no story is complete without reference to a Lemon Zester. It had it all, I tell you! heehee!

I posted my newest Pirates of the Carribean fic on sneezefic just now. It's entitled Blacksmiths, Bravery and Benevolence. I'm sorry. That's a painfully bad title, I know. I really do need a title muse. Anyone know where to find one? Preferably a cute one who looks like an elf or something?

I'm working on another story right now... I'm trying to get it started and finished before I go to sleep tonight. We'll see. I'm not the greatest at fast fics any more, but I'm really trying. I have so many I spend so much time on that I'm really trying to teach myself to work faster in some ways. I can spend forever in between paragraphs of a story. It's annoying :-)

Anyway, check out sneezefic. Let me know what you think. It's a little odd, I admit. But there is a point to it. And a little bit of h/c never hurt anyone.

On a COMPLETELY unrelated note, I stumbled onto a Neville Fuh-Q-Fest tonight and spent about an hour reading random fics. Who would have thought Neville having sex could be so adorably delicious? *shrug* Not me! But wow.
I absolutely draw the line at Draco/Neville, though. That's just never going to happen in my mind, no matter how much people insist Draco changes in the future. Heck, I can see Snape/Neville MUCH easier than Draco/Neville and that's saying something!

Just as the subject says :-) I wanted to write a little something with Harry for a change. It is his birthday, after all! Happy Birthday Harry Potter! He's 23... er... assuming he lives through the book series (though I don't see her killing him off. Then again, I thought Dumbledore or Hagrid died in book 5!)

This is set the birthday after OotP, and thus contains spoilers. So be warned!
It's unfinished and untitled and I'm very tired (it's 7am and about 2 hours after my bedtime) so I thought I'd post the first part now. It's suddenly getting a little darker than I'd intended, and I don't want to ruin anything by carrying on with the darkness and angst while I'm tired. That's dangerous! Anyway, on to the ficlet!

OK... it's certainly no surprise that I'm not a huge fan of the current US president's opinions. I'm not attacking the guy- I don't know him personally or anything. His political views just don't mesh with my own. On almost every conceivable level.

So I just had to share from a recent cnn article about his stand on gay marriages: http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/07/30/bush.gay.marriage/index.html

"I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, and I think we ought to codify that one way or another," Bush told reporters at a White House news conference. "And we've got lawyers looking at the best way to do that."
What? Last I checked, the best way to do that is to get a man and a woman together and have them sign a marriage license. Last I checked, that's already part of a number of laws.
As for what he believes... can't SOMEONE teach him how to word things better? I believe in the Loch Ness Monster, that doesn't mean it's real. Perhaps the phrase "should be" should have been in that sentence of his? *shakes head* Because honestly, Mr.President, PLENTY of marriages DO exist between gay people. Just because you don't believe they exist doesn't mean they don't *sigh*

OK, I'm making fun. But only because I'm miffed at this whole thing. Why can't people just get along? Why all the hatred and yelling? Really, seriously, what does it hurt people if two gay men or two gay women get married? Is more love, legalized, fair, safe love REALLY going to tear our nation apart MORE than this debating and yelling and mudslinging about rights and lifestyles and equality is right now?

Had a pretty bad afternoon... I'm hoping all the problems resolve themselves for the better tomorrow... but I'm not counting on that.

Watched the new Return of the King trailer. Wow. Looks fantastic! As a kid, the ending always scared me (of course, the cartoon version scares everyone now, doesn't it?) The whole finger thing totally freaked me out. I won't go into details... I dunno if I need spoilers for this or anything. But I'm a little scared of the third movie- silly, isn't it? Anyway, it looks fantastic. It really, really does! Looking forward to it!

Anyway, I'm about a third of the way through Order of the Phoenix, only a second time. I've read parts over and over again, but I decided just to start over from the beginning with Jim. I cried for about half an hour last night when he got to the sorting hat scene again. That to me, honestly, is the whole point of the series and one of the BEST parts of the book. *sniffles* I adore the voice he uses for the sorting hat. Just hearing it sung makes it so... I dunno. It's a whole different feeling. You know, maybe that's why I'm so worried about them cutting and changing for the movies? Because I'm so used to hearing the books performed in their unabridged entirety? I mean, the third book isn only something like 20 hours long. That's not too long for a movie, is it?
heehee OK... maybe... but they could easily get it down to 10, taking out the chapter titles and some of the description and stuff. Now that's not too long at all. *G*

OK, off to finish Hermione's third chapter of 'That's the Way it Is'. I'm halfway through betaing it right now :-)
